IDENTITY
CRISIS (Library
Theatre) |
|
| Saturday
17th May 2008 - 4pm |
| Black
or white? English or Scottish? Gay or straight?
Christian or Muslim? Group-based identity seems
more and more important in society. But are identities
a crucial form of support and solidarity for minorities
- or does our obsession with identity set us on
a path to division and hatred. Philosopher Julian
Baggini joins founder of Black History Month Linda
Bellos, The Independent's Johann Hari and Billy
Bragg, singer and author of The Progressive Patriot,
to debate where our loyalties should lie. Part

ROCK
at
the Library Theatre |
|
|
Tuesday 20th to Saturday 24th May 2008 |
| Rock
Hudson was the biggest screen idol in 1950’s
Hollywood – the ultimate Tinseltown hunk.
But his career was perpetually under threat from
Confidential Magazine, every queer actor’s
nemesis: and only one man stood between stardom
and oblivion. Rock is the story of Henry Willson,
the man who made stars of Rock Hudson, Tab Hunter,
Troy Donaghue and several other oddly-name men;
the most unscrupulous agent in Los Angeles; the
man who would do anything to protect his money-spinning
protégé… Starring the incomparable
Bette Bourne and written by Tim Fountain, the
team behind Resident Alien, Library Theatre’s
hit play about Quentin Crisp, Rock is a brand
new play that brings the seamy world of 1950s
Hollywood to vivid life. Rock is commissioned
by Homotopia & Glasgay! Performance

8pm, Saturday - 3pm & 8pm.

PAM
ANN - TERROR AT 41,000 FEET (Lyric
Theatre) |
|
| Tuesday
27th and Wednesday 28th May 2008 - 7.30pm |
| Whatever
happened to the golden age of flying? When the
ladies always wore a heel, donned their finest
couture and had hairdo’s so big they could
barely get on board. In those days passengers
would sit in the cockpit drinking champagne
with the captain en-route to LA. The only exciting
thing about flying these days is the thought
that we may not all get off the plane alive!
Where’s the glamour? Where’s the
fun? It’s here – Pam Ann, the a-list
air-hostess to the stars is back with a brand
new show which she promises will bring the thrill
back to flying. In the past year Pam Ann has
played sold-out shows on a major UK tour, at
the Edinburgh Festival, in London and New York.
She has toured with Cher and crewed for Elton
John, even Madonna is a huge fan describing
Pam as ‘cruelly funny’.

K.D.
LANG |
|
| Tuesday
29th July 2008 - 7pm |
| Many
pass themselves off as "proper" singers,
but lang is one of the few who can really, really
sing. Glorious.' The Times echoed, ‘With
the pop world suddenly in thrall to a bevy of
young, female torch singers, here is a star
who really knows the stylistic and emotional
ropes of the genre.' k.d.'s latest album is
the acclaimed bestseller, Watershed, which was
released by Nonesuch Records in January and
saw k.d. achieve some of the best chart success
of her 25-year career, including her highest
ever debut on the US Billboard chart at no.8.
The album comprises 11 new songs written and
produced by k.d., including the first single
‘I Dream Of Spring' and the forthcoming
single ‘Coming Home'. It is the first
album of newly written material from the four-time
Grammy winner since 2000's Invincible Summer,
and her first studio album since 2004's Canadian
songbook, Hymns Of The 49th Parallel. It is
also the first self-produced collection of her
career. The Sunday Times Magazine called it
a ‘masterpiece', and in a four-star review
Q proclaimed it ‘The best thing she's
done since 1992's Ingénue.' (back
