ANU - Hammam (15)
One of Ireland’s most innovative multidisciplinary artists, cross-pollinating theatre, visual art and dance, ANU Productions (Angel Meadow, 2014, and On Corporation Street, 2016), in partnership with the Abbey Theatre, will excavate the final moments of the Battle of Dublin at the epicentre of the Irish Civil War.
This blistering new work will square up to the foundation stones of our state – Hammam brings ANU’s marking of the Irish Decade of Centenaries to a close after a staggering 22 projects since 2013.
Written and Directed by Louise Lowe, audiences will traverse the depths of the destroyed buildings of O’Connell Street to explore one of the most contentious elements of Ireland's difficult past and its deeply enduring legacy in the present.
Inviting audiences into the epicentre of the Civil War and a nation teetering on the brink of peace, this blistering new work will square up to the foundation stones of the Irish state.
HAMMAM brings ANU’s marking of the Decade of Centenaries to a close after a staggering 22 projects since 2013.
