While made as part of Singh’s Punjab Trilogy in 2011, a series of films centred on the histories, politics and narratives of the region, this title can certainly be enjoyed and understood individually.
The first part in the loosely connected Punjab Trilogy, "Anhe Ghore Da Daan" focuses on the plight of farmers in rural Punjab.
Gurvinder Singh brings a mesmerising formalist approach to framing and composition that recalls the work of influential avant-garde filmmaker Mani Kaul who acted as creative producer on the project.
