Black Angel: NewVision

Black Angel: NewVision is an exhibition that looks at the present and towards the future representation of LBT Black and Asian women.
Black Angel was a pioneering club night in the late 1990s founded by Claud Cunningham and Paula Gannon-Lewis. It started in Manchester before expanding into Leeds and London.
But Black Angel has always been more than a club night. It gave birth to the Black and Asian LGBTQ club scene in Manchester and, more importantly, provided the first women-centred safe place for Black and Asian women (and allies) to come together and be themselves.
The Black Angel team have always been committed to exploring and sharing cultural narratives through creativity and joy.
Through music and dance, we have created spaces that encourage individuals to be their most expressive cultural selves. Through decades of visual representation and re-appropriation of cultural norms, we have pushed the boundaries of what has been acceptable. We celebrate every aspect of Black and Asian LGBTQ communities, and we offer a safe space to play and experiment with your identity.
Black Angel: NewVision will be an exhibition that commemorates 25 years of Black Angel by looking at the present and towards the future representation of LBT Black and Asian women, offering up a platform for Black and Asian LBT visibility and a spotlight on the many different identities that can be related to, and celebrated.
Join us for this very special private view of the exhibition, featuring a Q&A with special guests to be announced.
