Thursday Lunchtimes: Cassandra Miller In Focus

Each year our In Focus series invites trailblazing composers to the RNCM. Behind the scenes they work closely with our staff and students, culminating in a compelling day of performances. This Autumn we?re delighted to welcome Dr Cassandra Miller. Highlighting her creative ingenuity, O Zomer! (O summer! in English) takes its name from the last line of a poem by Dutch writer Toon Tellegen. A soft, intriguing opening makes way for a boisterous finish, following the emotional trajectory of Tellegen?s poem. A new student work then takes centre stage before the afternoon finishes with Cassandra?s Bel Canto ? a musical portrait of Maria Callas.
