EVENT INFORMATION Following on from the success of last year?s sell-out String Quartet recital at Sale?s Waterside Arts Centre, Sallow Tree Concerts and Sale Festival are delighted to welcome back the superb Mercury Strings for a very special collaboration with two outstanding ballet dancers, for what promises to be a very special evening of beautiful string arrangements of ballet music, along with specially-choreographed dance. Ballet dancer, Rachel Li ,was born and raised in Hong Kong, trained at the renowned Rambert School of Ballet and has since toured around the UK with the Emergence Dance Company, whilst Rachel Armstrong from UK, won a place at the prestigious Royal Ballet School before becoming just the seventh British dancer of the past 100 years to win a place at Moscow?s Bolshoi Ballet Academy, going on to work with Ballet Cymru and Northern Dance. Together they are a formidable dance duo, and this collaboration, with the exquisite playing of Mercury Strings, showcases some of the most beautiful excerpts of ballet music ever written. Music-lovers and ballet-lovers alike will be treated to a tasting menu of ballet, including pieces from Tchaikovsky?s Swan Lake, the sublime music of Saint Saens? ?The Swan?, and movements from Borodin and Tchaikovsky String Quartets.
