Rufus Wainwright has always had a flair for the dramatic. However, the acclaimed Canadian singer-songwriter has never carried it beyond the pop arena – until now. Together with a top-notch team of collaborators that includes American director Daniel Kramer, French conductor Pierre-André Valade and English designer Antony McDonald and leading British soprano Janis Kelly, Wainwright brings the world premiere of his first opera to MIF. As early-morning light floods into a Paris apartment, a woman struggles to rouse herself from a fitful night’s sleep. Once a soprano with a powerhouse voice and a reputation to match, she’s now a forlorn figure, disdained by critics and forgotten by audiences. But the diva is determined to prove her doubters wrong: all she asks is a chance to reprise the role that made her reputation all those years ago…Composer: Rufus Wainwright. Director: Daniel Kramer. Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes. « back to top

As an undisputed national treasure
and the world’s favourite children’s
author, Roald Dahl has enchanted young
minds over more than twenty five years
with stories that still fire the imagination,
bring dreams to life and release squeals
of both terror and delight. The BFG
is classic Dahl and this brand new
stage show promises to mix up heart-pounding
adventures with life-long friendships,
jumbly words and even some whizzpopping
in front of the Queen! When little
orphan Sophie is snatched out of her
bed in the dead of night by the BFG
she fears the worst, but unlike his
grisly neighbours the Bloodbottler
and the Fleshlumpeater who like nothing
more than swalloping human beans,
especially nice little childers, the
Big Friendly Giant is a dream maker
and not a man-eater. Performance times:
Tues - 7pm, Wed - 11am & 2pm,
Thu - 2pm & 7pm, Fri - 2pm &
7pm, Sat - 11am, 2pm & 6pm. «

Are you brave enough to see it? Shakespeare
4 Kidz promise plenty of excitement

of the play! Performance times:

Love and betrayal, innocence and the supernatural. Giselle is the ultimate Romantic ballet. This traditional staging of the 1841 production moves from bright, sunny optimism to a ghostly world of mystery. The story centres on a young peasant girl, Giselle, who dies of heartbreak after being deceived by the man she loves. In the second act, she returns from the grave to save his life when it is threatened by vampiric ghosts. Matinee performances on Thursday, Saturday & Sunday at 2.30pm.

The
double British Comedy Award winner,
Bafta Nominee and co-writer and star
of ‘Phoenix Nights’ returns
with a brand new live show. Back on
the road he’ll be tackling the
old adage ‘Laughter is the Best
Medicine’. It was his dad’s
favourite saying; which explains why
when Dave was six he nearly died with
diphtheria. Scientific evidence endorses
these wise words and it’s proven
that laughter boosts the immune system,
reduces stress and blood pressure,
and here’s the clincher…
burns calories! So this new show is
Dave’s small contribution to
improving the health of the nation.
Come along, have a laugh and hopefully
you’ll go away in much better
health and you could burn off 200
calories – and that’s
a pint of lager! «

In an adaptation of Charles Doughnut's "A Christmas Chuckle," Paul & Barry (The Chuckle Brothers) go on a fantasy adventure meeting characters and ghosts from a different time!
The year is eighteen hundred and frozen to hecky thump! Or is it? The miserable miser Ebenezer Sneezer isn't looking forward to Christmas. He never does!! In fact the only thing he does like at this time of year is humbugs! You can often hear him shouting 'Humbugs' as he goes on the search for them. However, what he doesn't know is that he's about to get a visit from some ghosts as they try to show him the error of his ways, and teach him that Christmas is a very special time. They arrive just before Christmas Eve to hear him shouting at the butcher, "Turkey's aren't just for Christmas!" And then to the corner toy shop, "Put your prices up!" He's never had a charitable thought in his life. But he's about to go on a journey of redemption!

Since winning the 'Stars in their Eyes' Grand Final 2000, polling nearly one million votes, Gary Mullen has carved out an excellent live career for himself as the mercurial Freddie Mercury. His performance is so astonishing and accurate that Brian May himself has written that Gary bears a remarkable likeness to Freddie, and in more than just voice and appearance on stage! For the first time in UK theatre, Gary presents the real live Queen experience - the sound and the look, combined with the showmanship, pomp, style and incredible musicianship that was the hallmark of Queen in concert. The show features Gary backed by his superb four piece band - The Works - hand picked to emulate Brian May, John Deacon and Roger Taylor, along with the most spectacular stage set up, stunning costumes and terrific special effects - just like Queen themselves. « back to top
