Do you still long for where you came from, or are you still searching for the place where you belong?

Drift is a story of the past, present, and future of Manchester-based Hong Kong actor and puppeter by Pui-Ka Cheng's experiences as both a mother and a daughter, exploring the feelings of being part of a border-crossing community and drifting through the world.

Drift will showcase her puppetry expertise, using the backdrop of multimedia projection and live traditional music that tells the story of her lived experience of intergenerational migration from China to Hong Kong to Manchester.

Three generations of women caught in a current of fate: the ripples caused by her mother’s passage, to her own journey, and the path yet to be taken by her daughter.

Like a fish drifting through water, she moves as if led by something greater.

Drift weaves together live music, video, puppetry, physical theatre and dance to tell a mesmerising story about identity, memory, and belonging.
