Erykah Badu
Influenced by R&B, soul, and hip hop, Texan singer Erykah Badu rose to prominence in 1996 with her debut hit single "On & On", which placed her at the forefront of the neo soul movement, earning her the nickname "Queen of Neo Soul" by music critics.
Drawing from R&B, 1970s soul, and 1980s hip hop, she has often been compared to jazz great Billie Holiday and has enjoyed hit collaborations with Macy Gray, Busta Rhymes and The Roots among others.
