Owen Cox and Tom Kirby - Afternoon Tea Concert
Friends since they were at music college, Owen and Tom bring you a fabulous programme of duos for violin and viola. Arrangements of Bach piano preludes paired with the spectacularly virtuosic Passacaglia in G minor, by Norwegian composer Johan Halvorsen (based on Handel) will be performed along with Mozart's beautiful Bb major duo. Included in the concert will be a movement from a duo by Czech composer Martin?.
Owen Cox
Owen is the Head of Strings at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester. As a performer he was a member of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and freelanced with many other British orchestras and chamber orchestras including Royal Northern Sinfonia and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
Thomas Kirby
Thomas is a versatile violist who performs regularly across the UK, Europe and the USA with leading period-instrument ensembles including La Serenissima, Academy of Ancient Music and the Gabrieli Consort and Players. In addition to his period performance work, Thomas maintains an active modern viola freelance career performing with Birmingham Royal Ballet and orchestras across the Midlands where he is based.
