One of the most distinctive artists of his generation, Sir Stephen Hough is arguably Britain’s finest living pianist.
A Chetham's School of Music and Royal Northern College of Music alumnus who was knighted in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2022, the Thelwall-raised musician has enjoyed an illustrious career as a pianist, composer and writer and was named as one of 20 living polymaths In 2009 by The Economist and Intelligent Life magazines.
He has topped the UK Classical charts with albums of both original works and recitals of Chopin, Brahms, and Grieg, while he is also known for championing lesser-known composers considered outside the standard repertoire.
