Thursday Lunchtimes: The North
Drop in during your lunch break and enjoy the best of new ensemble music in this lunchtime concert as part of Made in Manchester - a three-day festival celebrating the amazing breadth of new music created at the RNCM by staff and students, past and present.
Gary Carpenter’s new work for saxophone quartet is fittingly called The North, inspired by the location of himself and the Borealis Quartet who first commissioned the piece.
A moving second half to the afternoon brings Adam Gorb’s new song cycle to life. Exploring themes of homelessness, Beggars Belief follows the fragmented story of an unnamed woman and is the fifth collaboration between Adam and librettist Ben Kaye.
