Tim Garland's Lighthouse Trio

Canterbury saxophonist Tim Garland, whose seventeen-year association with Chick Corea made his name widespread, launched his Lighthouse Trio in 2004.

A truly unmatched and formidable acoustic jazz band where interplay is paramount, the line-up features celebrated Welsh pianist Gwilym Simcock - of the Pat Metheny Band and a former Chetham's and Royal Academy of Music student who shares Garland's approach to music which is informed by a blend of fusion, folk and classical forms and the impressionism of the German ECM Records crowd.

Making up the trio, Israeli drummer and percussionist Asaf Sirkis, has earned a well-deserved reputation as one of the best in the business and seems at home in any environment, but here masterfully employs a bespoke kit of middle eastern frame drums perfect for the setting.
