Ellis Howard and Chloe English represent one of Liverpool’s most inspiring creative success stories.
Both from working-class backgrounds in Liverpool, Ellis and Chloe trained together at Rare Theatre School before achieving the extraordinary feat of gaining places at the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and Guildhall School of acting in the same year. Their friendship and shared ambition have remained a constant throughout their careers.
Still in their 20s, both have reached major milestones in the television industry, earning BAFTA nominations in 2026. Chloe received recognition for her work on the acclaimed Liverpool comedy-drama G’wed, where she made her directorial debut on Series 2 and also co-wrote the series. The show has become a celebrated portrayal of contemporary working-class Liverpool life and has earned widespread critical acclaim.
Ellis was nominated for Best Leading Actor for his powerful performance in What It Feels Like for a Girl, the BBC adaptation of Paris Lees’ memoir. Since emerging from Liverpool’s thriving theatre scene, Ellis has built an impressive screen and stage career, appearing in productions including Red Rose, Help and To Kill a Mockingbird. He will soon appear in Channel 4’s The Rachel Incident.
Together, Ellis and Chloe embody the talent, resilience and creativity that continues to emerge from Liverpool.
