Experience the Autumn Diesel Gala from the best seats in the house!

Our popular brake van rides make a return on Friday and Saturday of the event, offering a chance to travel on the veranda of a brake van for a return trip between Bury and Ramsbottom aboard our heritage British Railways 1960s freight train.

You must board the freight train for your brake van ride at Bury Bolton Street Station, and all trips are return to Ramsbottom. Pick your preferred loco and time from the list below, and remember you MUST also purchase an Autumn Diesel Gala Rover ticket valid for the same date.

Friday 18th September

Ticket Information and Terms and Conditions.

You must be possession of an Autumn Diesel Gala Rover ticket valid for the same date as your Brake Van Ride ticket. Travel will only be allowed on presentation of both valid tickets.

Residents Permit holders and ELPRS Members can buy an advance Brake Van Ride ticket, but YOU MUST purchase your discounted Autumn Diesel Gala rover on the day.

Brake Van Ride tickets are valid only for the service stated, and for one return trip only.

The following Terms and Conditions are deemed accepted by anyone purchasing a Autumn Diesel Gala Brake Van ride:

Age: 18 Years +
Minimum height: 5ft / 1.52m
Must be physically able to board and alight the brake van unassisted.

East Lancashire Railway staff members can refuse travel to anyone not compliant or unfit to travel.

Due to the age and design of the Brake Vans , we are unable to accept people who require the assistance of a mobility scooter/walking aid or wheelchair.

Customers will not be permitted to board if they are under the influence of alcohol.
