Autumn Steam Gala Brake Van Rides

Experience the Autumn Steam Gala from the best seats in the house!

Brake van rides are available for all three days of the event, offering a chance to travel on the veranda of a brake van for a return trip between Bury and Ramsbottom.

You must board the freight train for your brake van ride at Bury Bolton Street Station, and all trips are return to Ramsbottom lasting approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Pick your preferred loco and time from the list below, and remember you MUST also purchase an Autumn Steam Gala Rover ticket valid for the same date.

Ticket Information and Terms and Conditions.

You must be possession of a Autumn Steam Gala Rover ticket valid for the same date as your Brake Van Ride ticket. Travel will only be allowed on presentation of both tickets.

Residents Permit holders and ELPRS Members can buy an advance Brake Van Ride ticket, but YOU MUST purchase your discounted Autumn Steam Gala ticket on the day.

Brake Van Ride tickets are valid only for the service stated, and for one return trip only.

The following Terms and Conditions are deemed accepted by anyone purchasing a Autumn Steam Gala Brake Van ride:

Age: 18 Years +
Minimum height: 5ft / 1.52m
Must be physically able to board and alight the brake van unassisted.

East Lancashire Railway staff members can refuse travel to anyone not compliant or unfit to travel.

Due to the age and design of the Brake Vans , we are unable to accept people who require the assistance of a mobility scooter/walking aid or wheelchair.

Customers will not be permitted to board if they are under the influence of alcohol.
