Autumn Steam Gala Footplate Rides

Experience the East Lancashire Railway from the footplate! 

See first hand the work needed by our footplate crew to keep our intensive gala service moving.

Footplate rides commence at Bury Bolton Street Station, with locomotive and journey detailed below. Tickets are limited to one person per time slot, giving you a truly unique experience. Remember you MUST also purchase an Autumn Steam Gala Rover ticket valid for the date of your Footplate Ride.

Ticket Information and Terms and Conditions.

You must be possession of a Autumn Steam Gala Rover ticket valid for the same date. Travel will only be allowed on presentation of both tickets. 

Residents Permit holders and ELPRS Members can buy an advance ticket, but YOU MUST purchase your discounted Autumn Steam Gala rover ticket on the day.

Footplate Ride tickets are valid only for the booked service.

The following Terms and Conditions are deemed accepted by anyone purchasing a Footplate Ride ticket:

Age: 18 Years +
Minimum height: 5ft / 1.52m
Must be physically able to board and alight the locomotive unassisted via several high steps.

East Lancashire Railway staff members can refuse travel to anyone not compliant or unfit to travel.

Due to the age and design of our locomotives , we are unable to accept people who require the assistance of a mobility scooter/walking aid or wheelchair.

Customers will not be permitted to board if they are under the influence of alcohol.
