BlackBoyJoyGone: REALISE

#BlackBoyJoyGone: REALISE is a Black disabled/neurodiverse-led programme created to empower Black men to speak about and share their stories of mental ill health and trauma. Through community engagement workshops and screenings of the docu-poem #BlackBoyJoyGone (#BBJG), a BFI Doc Society funded dance and poetry hybrid documentary by and for black men on mental health, this project engages Black men UK-wide to highlight their mental health and wellbeing needs. New commisioned cross arts works by 5 UK Black male, men, and transmasc artists will premiere alongside the docu-poem film #BlackBoyJoyGone to tell stories of lived experiences, provoke public discussion, support collective healing, and celebrate Black men?s lives. This project is supported by Mind, BFI Doc Society, HOME, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Movema, Brixton House, Red Earth Collective, The Hull Afro Caribbean Association, and Arts Council England.
