David Sedaris

David Sedaris
With sardonic wit and incisive social critiques, David Sedaris has become one of America’s pre-eminent humour writers.

He is the master of satire and one of today’s most observant writers addressing the human condition, and has made us consider, through his essays, diaries and hugely popular BBC Radio series, the absurdities of human nature and modern life: family, travel, relationships, aging, the pandemic, political upheavals – and, of course, roadside trash!

By turns misanthropic and poignant, Sedaris deploys his precise prose and keen observational skills to make you laugh, think, and sometimes be deeply moved with an ostensibly autobiographical and self-deprecating humour which often concerns his family life, his middle-class upbringing in North Carolina, his Greek heritage, homosexuality, jobs, education, drug use, and obsessive behaviours, as well as his life in France, London, New York, and the South Downs in England.

He is also the brother and writing collaborator of actress Amy Sedaris.

In his new UK tour, he will read new and unpublished stories, take questions and – as is now an integral part of the evening – sign books and meet his audience.
