East Lancashire Railway - Railway 200 Open-House Day

Celebrate the power and history of East Lancashire Railway's beloved heritage steam and diesel locomotives with their first Railway 200 event of the year!

With a fantastic line-up of activities, exclusive experiences, and something for enthusiasts of all ages, this event promises a memorable journey through railway history for all the family. This action packed day includes:

Steam locomotives Andrew Barclay, 1969 ‘Jane Derbyshire’ and LMS Pug 11243.

Diesel locomotives, up to 9 including: MSC 4002 ‘Arundel Castle’; Class 01, 11506 (D2956); Class 08, 08164 ‘Prudence’ (D3232); Class 40, 40012, ‘Aureol’ (on display) and Class 50, 50015 ‘Valiant’ (on display).

Regular Shuttle Service between Bury and Summerseat, hauled by different combinations of locomotives, departing hourly from 10:00 to 15:00 (last shuttle travels to Burrs only).

Queen Mary Brake Van ride on the shuttle service. Donations for this experience are welcome, with all money raised going towards ELR’s Crab Locomotive appeal.

Taster Driver Experience, where you can take the controls under expert guidance between Bury Station, Platform 2 and Baron Street Gates, traversing rare track (on payment of £15.00 supplement).

Cab Access to some of our heritage diesel locomotives. We will have 5 or 6 cabs open for visitors to explore.

Entry to the Transport Museum, showcasing an extensive collection of vintage vehicles and artefacts.
