Evening Conversations
A warm-hearted, autobiographical drama written and performed by acclaimed actor-writer Sudha Bhuchar.
This one-woman show explores the complexities of British-Asian identity, drawing on Sudha’s own family experiences as a middle class, middle aged, multicultural mother of millennial sons.
Shaped by Sudha’s cross-continental childhood, a far cry from her sons’ up-bringing in leafy Wimbledon, London, Evening Conversations is a gentle, humorous and truthful 70 minutes of storytelling. Sudha invites her boys to ‘crack open a cold one’ and share their views on life. Shots are fired in the rapid, banter-filled exchanges between mother and sons.
Evening Conversations looks at our tendency to re-evaluate our lives as we grow older and the complexities of identity and difference through the experiences we share. It’s a wry and affectionate look at the differences dividing us from our parents and children’s generations.
