Grammy Award nominated French-Lebanese trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf returns with a new and highly innovative musical project, a great adventure that takes us to a world where folklore and modernity become one, a true blend of influences where the festive and nostalgic East is expressed with a rare freedom.
As always, Ibrahim's music strikes the perfect balance between sophistication and approachability, making it both challenging and inviting for a diverse audience.
Spotted by legendary producer Quincy Jones during a concert at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2017, Ibrahim became one of the artists that the American producer regularly promoted via the Los Angeles-based Quincy Jones Productions.
T.O.M.A is the name of a brand of trumpets created by Ibrahim in collaboration with French manufacturers. It is this unique instrument, invented over half a century ago by his father, classical trumpeter Nassim Maalouf, that Ibrahim plays on stage, and on which he now educates the new generation of trumpet players.
Ibrahim lays the cornerstone of an ambitious life project combining lutherie, French cultural exceptionalism, teaching, albums and live performance, and above all aiming to bring us together around shared values.
