Jodie Nicholson

Jodie Nicholson

Inspired by her dad’s love of prog rock, songs that place you in the moment and artists who change sonically with each album, Jodie Nicholson isn’t afraid to challenge her singer-songwriter core of delicate melodies and soft instrumentation.

From the village of Hurworth-on-Tees in north east England, her ethereal vocals remain constant over a diverse, explorative ground, subtly blurring the lines of genre expectations with melancholic soundscapes of indie, electro and folk-pop.

Musical influences including Daughter, Warpaint, Lucy Rose, Bombay Bicycle Club, Pink Floyd and Laura Marling underpin Jodie’s signature rich harmonies, warm textures and heartfelt lyrics.

Recent single Move proved a pivotal shift in sound since her self-produced debut album and solidified Jodie’s status as one of the UK’s most exciting emerging artists. The track earned a deserved place on the BBC Radio 6 Music playlist, as well as further backing from Radio 1, BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, Record of the Day, American Songwriter and Indie Shuffle, to name but a few.

Supported by PRSF Women Make Music and produced by Tim Bran (London Grammar, Aurora, Rae Morris), Jodie’s EP ‘Can’t Escape the Feeling’ explores what it means to feel alone in a familiar world, cradling vulnerability and loss with aching keys, mellow electronics and atmospherics from everyday, solitary moments.
