Joe Astley
Joe Astley is a professional singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Wigan heard on BBC Introducing, Radio X and XS Manchester, who described his unique songwriting style and sound as "Springsteen meets the Pogues". After a string of successful singles over 2020 and 2021 all charting in the itunes top ten, his latest single "The Battle of Wigan Lane" became his first official top 40 hit - all with no manager, record label or team behind him.
Brought up on early rock and roll music and embodying the energy of his musical heroes, Elvis Presley and the Beatles, he began writing songs at sixteen, refining his craft in the clubs and pubs around his hometown relentlessly for up to six uninterrupted hours a night. With an army of followers behind him, a treasure trove of melodic rock 'n' roll anthems and now resident artist at Liverpool's world famous Cavern Club, he is rising quickly towards stardom.
