Growing up in London's Elephant and Castle area, Crookes' love of singing blossomed as a child after attending a jazz and blues workshop, she was discovered by her manager in 2013 age 15 after uploading a cover of Ray Charles' Hit The Road Jack to YouTube. Her debut album Skin reached no.5 in the UK.
