Lindstrøm & Vålerenga Man Choir - The Little Drummer Boy

Celebrating 30 years of Paper Recordings and 10 years of Sprechen, both Manchester record labels have joined forces to bring one of the pioneers of the Norwegian dance music sound, Lindstrøm, to Aviva Studios for a very special live performance of ‘The Little Drummer Boy’. 

The song, first performed by Ray Conniff in 1962, has since been performed by a diverse range of performers such as Frank Sinatra, Boney M, Joan Jett, Justin Bieber, Busta Rhymes, Ringo Starr and of course the timeless rendition by Bing Crosby and David Bowie.  

Voted the 20th best Christmas song of all time by The Guardian, Lindstrøm’s take on The Little Drummer Boy is a cosmic disco/kraut opus of hypnotic modular synth patterns, stacked in constantly building steady rhythms and backed by military style drumming from award winning drummer Martin Horntveth and ethereal vocal accompaniment by the 50-piece Vålerenga Man Choir. 

With all these parts in place, the festive favourite is transformed into an immersive and mesmerising tattoo of drum machine loops, vocoder choral voices, eerie synth drones, and space disco chords that fully engage your senses throughout the journey, right through to its climatic conclusion. 

With previous sold-out shows at Oslo’s Rockefeller and Parkteatret, this will mark the first time that the performance has taken place outside of Norway. It is an exclusive chance for a UK audience to experience this truly unique electronic take on a Christmas classic.
