Orphaned Land
Often criticised in their own land for being "leftist Arab lovers", Israeli metal band Orphaned Land are one of the most exclusive bands of the whole prog metal scene in the world, combining Mizrahi and Maghrebi Jewish, Arabic, Turkish, and other Middle Eastern and North African musical elements with metal (and a particular influence from Yemenite Jewish and Moroccan Jewish music), as well as from Sephardic music, and other sounds from the Mediterranean.
The band got its name from a song called רוחות מלחמה (Hebrew for Winds of War) by the Israeli singer Yehuda Poliker.
