Pigbaby
Listening to the dissonant, hallucinogenic world of anonymous, mask-wearing Dublin lo-fi folk artist pigbaby feels like sinking deeper into the artist’s subconscious.
His introspective bedroom folk draws together the most surreal of reference points – from Irish folk music and Sinead O’Connor playing the Virgin Mary, to field recordings and the online reality game Second Life, to film clips and random YouTube videos of people fighting – to imply a doomscrolling, daydreaming mind.
With spoken-word tracks pieced together on a small keyboard, the one-time Manchester and London resident has formed a picture of digital chaos, longing, and loneliness.
