Prodigal
A two man show that covers a sad but very common story of a family bereaved by suicide. It is set in a pub on the day of the funeral.
The one-hour play is an original one-act script written and performed by Andrew Carney, with Tom Carney (no relation).
The story concerns Andy and his estranged father Benny. They are reunited after the tragic death of Andy’s brother Seán. They struggle to come to terms with their loss and examine their pasts to attempt to figure out what brought them here while making the first tentative steps toward reconnection.
First performed in August 2018 in North Galway, raising a four-figure sum for an Irish mental health charity.
