Queer Up North presents: The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert (15)

Celebrate the launch of the Queer Up North digital archive with this one-off screening of The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and the premiere of a new documentary short It?s Queer Up North: Saving the Show. The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is a beloved Australian road movie musical, first previewed in Manchester at Queer Up North in 1994. Written and directed by Stephan Elliott, the film follows two drag queens and a transgender woman as they journey across the Australian Outback on a tour bus named Priscilla. On its release in 1994, it became a surprise worldwide hit, and won the Oscar for Best Costume Design at the 67th Academy Awards. This special screening will also feature the premiere of It?s Queer Up North: Saving the Show - a new documentary short, directed by Brett Chapman, exploring the history of Queer Up North and the making of the archive.
