Scarlxrd

SCARLXRD is the moniker of Wolverhampton-born rapper Marius Lucas Antonio Listhrop, whose music generally blends elements of heavy metal and trap.
Pronounced as “Scarlord”, he likes to replace the letter “o” with “x” not only in his stage name but also in song titles. Influenced heavily by Japanese culture, SCARLXRD is often seen donning a surgical mask, inspired by the manga Tokyo Ghoul.
At first he began uploading humorous videos to YouTube in 2012 as Mazzi Maz and then launched his music career in 2014 by forming the nu-metal group Myth City and releasing a self-titled EP the following year.
In 2016, he became SCARLXRD and embarked on a solo path with the debut track Girlfriend. He released a handful of albums over the next two years but didn’t break into the music charts until DXXM, his major label debut with Island Records, arrived in spring 2018.
SCARLXRD followed that up with the album Infinity, which led to a nomination at the 2019 Kerrang! Awards for Best British Breakthrough artist.
