After ten years in the indie pop duo Slow Club, Rebecca Lucy Taylor finds herself musically reincarnated as Self Esteem. Drawing influence from everything and anything - pop culture, the dark and light within her own life, her experiences on the road in a band that she loved but was no longer the place for her creatively, and the freedom that came from stepping away, her sound is dramatic, direct and deafeningly exciting. A big fan of Queen, even her logo is based on Freddie Mercury's signature.
With a UK no.11 album, honest disclosure has always been Self Esteem's forte, and so each track handles difficult themes with nuanced perspective, comforted and counter-balanced with an array of rhythmic flourishes that speak to the eclecticism of her experience and influence.
