Swedish House Mafia

Swedish EDM masterminds head out on tour in 2022

Swedish House Mafia have announced that they will be playing a number of UK dates as part of their Paradise Again World Tour 2022.

The house supergroup made up of legendary DJ/producers Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso have been together since 2008. Swedish House Mafia have been called “the faces of mainstream progressive house music” thanks to over a decade of chart-topping EDM tracks.

Before forming the group, Axwell, Angello and Ingrosso all had successful careers as solo DJs, performing from the late 1990s. While Angello and Ingrosso knew each other as kids growing up in Stockholm, the pair would meet Axwell later in life before often running into each other at the same festivals. They would also often play with fellow Swede Eric Prydz.

Fans began calling the four the Swedish House Mafia naturally before they were officially billed as such in 2007 at the Winter Music Conference. While Prydz decided not to formally join the group, Axwell, Angello and Ingrosso eventually made their status official and stuck with the name their fans had lovingly given them.

After a hugely successful performance in 2008 in Ibiza as part of BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix Ibiza, Swedish House Mafia signed a major-label contract with EMI. The group released their first official production in 2010 with the summer anthem, One (Your Name), which later featured Pharrell Williams on vocals. The song landed a spot in the Top 10 in the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium and their native Sweden. It also featured on the group’s debut album, Until One, alongside their next single, Miami 2 Ibiza, with Tinie Tempah.

The album also featured a number of previously released songs that the trio had done before their official union. It topped the UK dance charts as well as reached No.4 on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart.

That same year, the group released their first documentary called Take One which was filmed over a two-year period, covering 253 gigs and 15 countries.

Swedish House Mafia released a string of hugely successful singles from 2011 to 2012, starting with Save The World featuring vocals from John Martin. They also released Antidote with Knife Party and Greyhound before – what is arguably their most commercially successful hit – Don’t You Worry Child, again with vocals from Martin, all within a two-year period. This was followed by the announcement of their second compilation album, Until Now. The album later formed the soundtrack to their One Last Tour. The group went on the farewell tour off the back of their second album and the project drew to a close in 2014.

Fans were delighted in 2018 when Swedish House Mafia reunited to play a surprise set at the 20th Ultra Music Festival in Miami. This led to them heading off on the 2019 Save The World Reunion Tour and signing a new deal with Republic Records.

In 2021, they released It Gets Better, the first song of their eagerly anticipated third album, Paradise Again.
