The Sisters Of Mercy
Setting the standard for Gothic/Alternative Rock for years to come, underground rock trio The Sisters of Mercy formed in Leeds, in 1980 and, despite only releasing three studio albums, between 1985 and 1990, went on to score Top 20 hits with "Temple of Love", "This Corrosion", "Dominion", "More", "Under The Gun", and ""Lucretia My Reflection".
Cambridgeshire-born frontman Andrew Eldritch remains the only original member and has been described in the media as a poster boy for the genre, earning him the label "the Godfather of Goth".
