When in Rome UK
Manchester synth-pop/new wave group When in Rome, which originally consisted of vocalists Clive Farrington and Andrew Mann, and keyboardist Michael Floreale are best known for their 1988 single "The Promise", which reached no.11 in the USA despite not hitting the UK Top 40.
In 1990, after Floreale was fired by Farrington and Mann over creative differences, When in Rome disbanded. Floreale trademarked the name and returned in the USA under the name "When in Rome II" while Farrington and Mann would reform three years later as "When in Rome UK".
