Y Sŵn (12A) + Welsh Language Discussion

theatre

Mark Lewis Jones, Siân Reese-Williams and Rhodri Evan star in Lee Haven Jones's feature film about one of the most colourful chapters of modern Welsh history, which is told in an imaginative and unique style.

Margaret Thatcher swept to power in 1979 with a manifesto that promised to establish a Welsh language television channel. Months into her premiership, she reneged on her promise and sparked protests in Wales. Against a backdrop of civil disobedience, the iconic politician Gwynfor Evans vows to starve to death unless the government changes its mind.

Languages:
Welsh

Subtitles:
Full English

The 18:30 screening will be followed by an informal post-screening discussion for local Welsh-language speakers with Grŵp Sgwrs a Pheint Manceinion, a Welsh-language social group for both native speakers and learners of all ages, which meets monthly in the city centre.

All are very welcome to join in the discussion. However, as the discussion will be conducted entirely in Welsh, at least an intermediate level in the language is recommended for all participants. This is a FREE event, but advance booking is required.
