The latest film from critically acclaimed Shoplifters director Hirokazu Kore-eda, Broker is a deeply moving, funny and original road movie about the family you chose along the way and stars Cannes Best Actor winner Song Kang Ho.
Sang-Hyun works with his friend Dong-Soo to find new parents for infants left in a baby box – a small facility where desperate parents give up their children anonymously. Offering his clients special deals to take the children, Sang-Hyun euphemistically calls himself a broker of goodwill.
One day, a mother unexpectedly returns to the baby box after leaving her child there the night before. She forms an unlikely alliance with Sang-Hyun and Dong-Soo, and the trio set out on a journey to find new parents for her boy – all the while, a police detective tails them; hoping to catch them in the act and wrap up a long-term investigation.
