UB40 featuring Ali Campbell
After walking away from Birmingham reggae legends UB40 after 30 years, in 2008, due to creative differences, original lead singer Ali Campbell formed a new line-up and was shortly to be followed by keyboard player Mickey Virtue and fellow vocalist Astro, touring as "UB40 featuring Ali, Astro, and Mickey".
Following the departure of Virtue in 2018, and the untimely death of Astro, aged 62, in 2021, Ali Campbell continues to tour with his new line-up, bringing with them a plethora of his hits such as "Red Red Wine", "Kingston Town" and "Homely Girl".
UB40 were formed in Birmingham by brothers Ali Campbell and Robin Campbell, the sons of influential Scottish folk artist Ian Campbell - their other brother Duncan Campbell would replace Ali in the original line-up, which also continues to tour under the name UB40, with original members Robin Campbell, Jimmy Brown, Earl Falconer, and Norman Lamont Hassan to this day.
