Blood Orange

New York-based London indie rock producer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, songwriter and vocalist Devonte Hynes started out as a teenage punk in the UK band Test Icicles, scoring Top 40 hits with "Circle. Square. Triangle" and "What's Your Damage," before releasing two orchestral acoustic pop records as Light speed Champion.

In 2011, he bagan a solo career under the moniker Blood Orange, gaining critical acclaim which saw him defined as one of the foremost musical voices of his time, receiving comparisons to the likes of Kendrick Lamar and D'Angelo for his own searing and soothing personal document of life as a black man in America.

Musically, his analogue recordings, recurring cello motifs, array of arrangements and instruments like the acoustic guitar with a punk distortion and melodic ethereal tones were woven into his dreams as a kid growing up in Essex, imagining his future.

He has collaborated with Solange Knowles, Skepta, fka twigs, Carly Rae Jepsen, AUSDAP Rocky, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Blondie, The Durutti Column, Caroline Polachek, Lorde, and many other artists, and was recently one of four artists invited to the Kennedy Centre to perform alongside Philip Glass.

In addition to his production work, he scored the film Palo Alto, directed by Gia Coppola.
