In Conversation with JAMES QUINN discussing Going Out Out at HOME

We chatted to James Quinn who is starring in the new drama, Going Out Out at HOME, Manchester from Thu 16th October to Sat 1st November 2025. Karen Ryder asks the questions.
Going Out Out is a show filled with music, courage and love about a man who finds a way to cope with grief by joining the Manchester drag scene.
Ian’s gone out less since he became a widower. Actually, he hasn’t gone out at all - a local charity gets his shopping and he only leaves the house to water the garden. But when Raz drops Ian’s groceries round one day and finds him wearing his late wife’s dress, because it helps him feel closer to her and because he likes to wear something loose fitting on hot days, an unlikely friendship starts that changes everything. Soon, Ian finds himself back in the working men’s club run by his estranged daughter, Lauren, preparing to give the performance of his life…

James Quinn plays Ian. James comes to HOME for Going Out Out, having appeared numerous times at the venue’s celebrated forerunner, Manchester’s Library Theatre. His TV and screen work includes Early Doors, Brassic, After the Flood, Queen Charlotte – A Bridgerton Story, Peacock, Doctor Who, Father Brown, Bancroft, Gentleman Jack, Pennyworth, Safe, Coronation Street, Fat Friends and the film Apostasy.
Playing the role of Raz is Darren Kuppan. His TV credits are Dodger (NBC Universal/BBC), Home From Home, Spooks (BBC), Coronation Street, Britannia High, Emmerdale and The Adam & Shelly Show (ITV).
Completing the cast is Verity Henry who is playing the character, Lauren. Verity has appeared on stage in B Shorts, Wuthering Heights At Hurricane Speed, A Great War and Touched, and her TV credits include Football Fantastics, Cold Feet and Hijack.
