Queen Legend to Tour

Often referred to as the greatest drummer of all time, and the main influence for younger drummers like the late Foo Fighters' star Taylor Hawkins, Queen's Roger Taylor has announced a new solo tour to promote his forthcoming album, Violence Insane in a Beautiful World, offering fans a rare opportunity to witness a true stadium rock legend live in an intimate setting.

Having joined Smile, the precussor to Queen in 1968, after replying to Brian May's  advertisement on the notice board at London's Imperial College for a "Ginger Baker type" drummer, the young dental student succesfully auditioned on bongos, as his drum kit was elsewhere.

With the introduction of frontman Freddie Mercury and bass player John Deacon, the band soon evolved into Queen, and all four members would contribute to songwriting, with Roger penning smash hits like "Radio Ga Ga", "A Kind of Magic", "These Are The Days of Our Lives", "Innuendo", "One Vision", "Heaven for Everyone", "Breakthru", "The Invisible Man", and "Thank God It's Christmas" to name but just a few.

With one of rock’s most distinctive countertenor voices, Roger would often substitute Freddie to sing lead vocals on Queen's albums, as well as on his solo recordings and as frontman for his brilliant underrated side project, The Cross.

Below, we've compiled the ultimate Roger Taylor playlist, taking in his Queen vocals and solo singles...
